01Who we are
Shadow AI is operated by Growth Forging Limited, a company registered in the Republic of Cyprus ("we," "us," "our"). Contact: support@shadowai.cc.
When we say "the Service" or "Shadow AI," we mean our mobile application and any related features or content we provide.
02Who Shadow AI is for
Shadow AI explores themes related to mental health, personal patterns, and emotional reflection. The content is written for adult readers, and we recommend the app accordingly.
You must have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement under the laws of your jurisdiction. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child in a way that violates applicable children's privacy law, we will delete that information.
03Not medical or mental health advice
Shadow AI is a self-reflection journaling tool. It is not therapy, counseling, medical advice, psychiatric treatment, crisis intervention, or any other regulated health service. The reflections you receive are generated by AI software and are not a substitute for professional care.
If you are in crisis, please contact emergency services or a crisis hotline in your region. People in the United States can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or call 911 in an emergency. International crisis resources are available at findahelpline.com.
You agree not to use Shadow AI as your sole or primary support resource during a mental health crisis.
04Your account
To use Shadow AI you need an account, which you create by signing in with Apple or Google. By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you have the right to use the sign-in method you chose.
You are responsible for activity on your account. If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, contact us immediately at support@shadowai.cc.
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account). Deletion is described in our Privacy Policy.
05Subscriptions and payments
Shadow AI offers paid subscriptions for full access to the Service. Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store and are subject to Apple's payment terms in addition to these Terms.
Auto-renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date through your Apple ID subscription settings. Your Apple ID account is charged at the start of each renewal period.
Trials and introductory offers
If we offer a free trial or introductory price, the terms of that offer will be shown at purchase. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription will start and you will be charged at the regular rate.
Refunds
Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's refund policy. To request a refund, use Apple's "Report a Problem" page (reportaproblem.apple.com). We don't process App Store refunds directly.
Price changes
If we change subscription prices, we will give you notice before the change takes effect. You can cancel before the change applies if you don't want to continue at the new price.
06Your content
You retain ownership of the content you write into Shadow AI (your journal entries, dreams, sentence completions, body-map answers, and any other free-text input). We don't claim ownership of your content.
By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content for the sole purpose of operating Shadow AI for you, including storing it on our servers, generating AI reflections, and surfacing patterns back to you. This license ends when you delete your content or your account.
You are responsible for the content you write. You agree not to use Shadow AI to write content that:
- Violates the rights of another person (including privacy, intellectual property, or other rights)
- Contains illegal material, including content that exploits minors
- Threatens, harasses, or incites violence against a specific person
- Attempts to deceive other users or us (such as impersonation)
We don't actively monitor the content of your journal entries. If we receive a credible report or are required by law to act on specific content, we may review or remove it.
07How AI generates reflections
Reflections in Shadow AI are generated by artificial intelligence. AI can make mistakes, produce inaccurate observations, or generate responses that don't apply to your situation. Treat reflections as a starting point for your own thinking, not as authoritative statements about who you are.
We use OpenAI as our AI provider for generating reflections. Your journal content is sent from the app to our own backend service, which then calls the OpenAI API to generate the reflection. OpenAI processes this content under their API data processing terms and does not use it to train their models. See our Privacy Policy for details on what is sent and how it is retained.
08Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service, except where applicable law expressly permits this despite this limitation
- Use the Service to build a competing product or train a competing AI model
- Access the Service through automated means (bots, scrapers, etc.) without our written permission
- Circumvent any rate limits, paywalls, or other access controls
- Send spam, malware, or other harmful content through the Service
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or to our systems
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
09Our intellectual property
The Shadow AI app, brand, designs, archetype framework, prompts, and software are owned by Growth Forging Limited and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms don't transfer any of our intellectual property to you. You can use the Service for personal, non-commercial reflection. That is all.
10Service availability
We aim to keep Shadow AI running reliably, but we don't guarantee that the Service will be available without interruption, error-free, or that your data will never be lost. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to maintain backups of your data on our servers, as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will give you reasonable advance notice and an opportunity to export your data.
11Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.
We make no warranty that the Service will meet your requirements, that AI-generated reflections will be accurate or useful, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or secure.
12Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Growth Forging Limited and its officers, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.
Our total liability for all claims arising from or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) €100.
Some jurisdictions don't allow certain liability limitations. If you live in one of those, the limitations in this section apply to you only to the extent permitted by your local law.
13Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Growth Forging Limited harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) your violation of any law or third-party right through your use of the Service, or (c) content you submit to the Service that violates these Terms.
14Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time by deleting your account.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if we discontinue the Service. If we terminate your account for a reason other than your violation of these Terms, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including sections 06, 07, 09, 11, 12, 13, and 15) will continue to apply after termination.
15Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the competent courts of the Republic of Cyprus, unless your local consumer protection law gives you the right to bring the dispute in your country of residence.
We encourage you to contact us at support@shadowai.cc first so we can try to resolve the issue informally.
16Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect means you accept them. If you don't agree with a material change, you can delete your account before it takes effect.
17Apple App Store
If you downloaded Shadow AI from the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply:
- These Terms are between you and Growth Forging Limited only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the Service.
- If the Service fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the App Store purchase price (if any) to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the Service.
- Growth Forging Limited (not Apple) is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the Service or your use of the Service, including product liability claims, claims that the Service fails to conform to legal requirements, and claims under consumer protection or similar law.
- If a third party claims that the Service infringes their intellectual property rights, Growth Forging Limited (not Apple) is responsible for investigating, defending, and resolving the claim.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and Apple has the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
